RAFT is an award-winning medical research charity with an outstanding track record of quickly delivering benefits to patients. Our aim is to ensure that every patient who suffers a wound or major tissue trauma regains their quality of life, independence and dignity. The role

We are looking for a Fundraising Executive who can help grow and develop income for RAFT from trusts and foundations to support our core work and to fund our projects.  You will work closely with the Trust Fundraising Manager on all aspects of trust fundraising including researching, preparing and submitting compelling proposals to both existing and new funders.

The successful applicant will be self-motivated, have excellent communication skills, work in an organised manner and have a keen eye for detail.

This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and hard-working individual who can demonstrate a track record of achievement, enjoys building relationships and has excellent telephone, written and face-to-face communication skills.

The successful candidate will be expected to:

  • Prepare bids and submit applications to grant-making trusts and foundations
  • Work closely with the Trust Fundraising Manager to deliver on monthly income and ask targets.
  • Approach the charity’s existing and lapsed trust contacts by telephone ahead of submitting an application.
  • Identify and research potential new sources of trust giving for the charity.
  • Monitor responses and report to trusts according to a planned timetable.
  • Record and monitor all approaches; keep the fundraising Raisers’ Edge database up to date and accurate; progress applications to successful funding.

Required experience

  • Previous experience of working in trust fundraising
  • Experience of writing funding bids to solicit donations from trusts and foundations
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and on the telephone
  • Confident IT skills (Outlook, Word, Excel), ideally with previous experience of using a database and appreciation for accurate data
  • Research skills
  • Ability to work on own initiative and to work as part of a team
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet ambitious targets
  • Organised and methodical approach with keen attention to detail
