Freedom from Torture has been working for more than 30 years to provide direct clinical services to survivors of torture who arrive in the UK, as well as striving to protect and promote their rights. Since our inception, over 50,000 individuals have been referred for help. Thanks to the dedication of staff and volunteers – as well as our passionate supporters and funders – thousands of torture survivors have been able to rebuild their lives in incredibly difficult circumstances.

As the only organisation in the UK dedicated solely to the treatment of survivors of torture and organised violence, Freedom from Torture takes a holistic approach to rehabilitation, catering for the complex needs of survivors.We provide  tailored psychological therapies, forensic documentation of torture , as well as practical help such as legal and welfare advice for people who have survived horrific abuses of their human rights.

Freedom from Torture has a strong track record of securing support from major grant givers and trusts large and small.  We are now looking to significantly increase our income in order to expand our services to more clients and are seeking an experienced Trust and Grants Fundraiser who can help identify new funding streams and securing grant funding for our clinical services and policy work.

The role will suit a pro-active fundraiser with experience of securing grants from institutional donors, foundations and trusts and with a track record of delivering income growth. The role will involve identifying grant opportunities from donors in the UK and overseas, designing projects to fit donor criteria, preparing high quality funding proposals and maintaining strong relationships with donors and other agencies. The role will also involve managing a grants portfolio including preparing narrative reports and ensuring compliance with donor regulations.

Key responsibilities of the role include:

· To research suitable funding streams from the EC, Government, large Foundations and from Trusts, identifying suitable opportunities for project and core funding.

· To design and package activities into fundable programmes of work, prepare high quality funding applications in collaboration with the Clinical and Policy Departments in London and Freedom from Torture’s UK regional centres.

· To manage grants secured, preparing donor reports, Trust updates and effectively resolving donor queries that arise ensuring that grants are managed in full compliance with donor requirements.

· To develop the monitoring framework for grants secured, mapping out planned outcomes.

· To represent Freedom from Torture in donor meetings.

· To manage communications and donor relations with a wide variety of funders.

It is essential that you have had experience in a similar role, with sound knowledge of both fundraising and grant management, along with the ability to manage donor relationships and relationships with other national and international agencies.
