Trusts & Foundations Manager

School of Hard Knocks and Wooden Spoon have decided to collaborate by jointly investing in the recruitment of an experienced Trust & Foundations manager who will be responsible for kick starting this area of funding for both charities.  There is huge potential with substantial untapped funding available.

School of Hard Knocks uses sport to tackle the issues surrounding unemployment, crime and health. They work with individuals to help them take responsibility and take positive steps forward in their lives, offering a number of different programmes, each tailored to its audience and principal aims. The constant factor is our methodology – controlled confrontation, challenging activities and a constant affirmation of self-worth and motivation.

Wooden Spoon is the children’s charity of rugby. From sensory rooms, specialist playgrounds and sports activity areas to respite, medical and community care, they fund around 70 projects each year that support disadvantaged and disabled children. Since our founding in 1983, we’ve distributed in excess of £24 million, helping over 1 million young people.

This is a 12 month fixed term contract with the opportunity to stay on full time with either organisation. Initially the successful candidate will be responsible for generating £0.2m for Wooden Spoon for the future capital and revenue appeals and £0.12m for SOHK in restricted and unrestricted applications to support our national delivery of programmes and to contribute to the core running costs.

Longer term, funding will be identified for other vital fundraising projects and campaigns.

Time will be split with three days for Wooden Spoon focussed across the aims of Wooden Spoon.  Their office is based in Fleet. The remaining two days per week will be making applications for School of Hard Knocks, whose office is in London.  There would be an expectation that the successful applicant would be based as a minimum of one day in Fleet and one day in London each week but we are flexible and open to discussing the possibility of home working.
