We are looking for a UK Portfolio Officer to join our UK Programme Funding team, working on maintaining and ensuring continued income growth for all of our UK programmes. You will be responsible for overseeing the UK Programmes portfolio of grants, providing excellent grant management and donor reporting.

Working in more than 120 countries, we do whatever it takes to create breakthroughs in the way the world treats children. Our UK Programmes department delivers humanitarian and development programmes, builds partnerships with institutional donors – including governments, multi-laterals and trusts – and drives lasting change. Together, we save children’s lives, fight for their rights and help them fulfil their potential.

As UK Portfolio Officer you will work closely with Account Managers within the Fundraising team to ensure they provide high quality donor narrative reports to corporate, philanthropy and institutional donors. You will be a main focal point for fundraising colleagues for specific grant and programme information and ensure that all awards are compliant with donor requirements and SCUK quality standards. In addition you will:

  • Maintain and regularly update relevant grant files on the SCUK Award Management System (AMS)
  • Monitor grant spend against grant budgets, providing analysis on variances and ensure all issues are resolved
  • Ensure that SCUK’s financial, grants, legal and compliance policies and procedures are followed, by all UK programme and other SCUK staff
  • Work with the Finance Business Partners to ensure consistent application of standards, processes and controls
  • Use relevant reporting tools to produce financial reports to support award management.

To be successful you will be educated to degree level or equivalent, or have relevant formative professional experience. Flexible, energetic and proactive, you will have experience of writing compelling, high-quality donor reports for a range of funder types, including preparing donor budgets. In addition you will have:

  • A demonstrable ability to use your own initiative to improve systems and processes and to take responsibility for queries until fully resolved
  • A resilient and well-organised nature, with a proactive approach to work
  • An understanding of donor compliance requirements and associated risks
  • Strong numerical skills with a flair for the financial side of Grant Award Management
  • An understanding of and experience working within the UK fundraising ecology.
