Unicef ensures more of the world’s children are vaccinated, educated and protected than any other organisation. We have done more to influence laws and policies to help protect children than anyone else. We get things done. And we’re not going to stop until the world is a safe place for all our children.

The Direct Marketing team is responsible for recruiting and developing support for Unicef’s work for children from individual members of the public and central to fundraising for humanitarian emergency appeals. We use a wide range of channels including Direct Mail, email, SMS, Door, Street, DRTV, Outdoor, Telephone and digital channels including Search, Social and Programmatic.

We are seeking to recruit a Head of Direct Marketing to cover maternity leave.

The Direct Marketing team has achieved significant growth in income in recent years, raising £46 million in 2018. In this role, you will lead and develop strategies which ensure opportunities to grow and strengthen a sector leading direct marketing programme.

You will be responsible for effective management of emergency appeals to ensure they raise money quickly and efficiently for humanitarian disasters, and you will also have the opportunity to coordinate the cross-organisational approach to delivering a cause area - an area of Unicef’s work that helps us to engage with audiences, with shared outcomes and integrated messages.

To succeed, you will have significant indepth experience of direct marketing.  You will be an experienced leader, able to motivate and inspire a high performing team and you will have experience of managing income and expenditure budgets of £5m+. A supporter-centric perspective and digital innovation will be at the heart of your approach and excellent relationship management skills will help you bring together colleagues inside and outside of the organisation to deliver results for children.

This is a fantastic opportunity to lead a creative and talented team to deliver our ambitious goals for 2018 and 2019.

Closing date: 5pm, Monday 1 October 2018.
Interview date: Tuesday 9 October 2018.

We welcome applications from a diverse range of people, respecting and drawing on different perspectives, skills, experience and knowledge.

The successful candidate will be required to apply for a criminal records check. A criminal record will not necessarily bar you from working with us. This will depend on the nature of the role and the circumstances of your offences.

We only accept online applications as this saves us money, making more funds available for us to help ensure children’s rights.

If you do not hear from us within 14 days of the closing date, please assume your application has been unsuccessful on this occasion. Please note that we only provide feedback to shortlisted candidates.
