About Us 

Family Action is a national charity committed to building stronger families and brighter lives by delivering innovative and effective services and support that reaches out to many of the UK’s most vulnerable people. 

Funded by Sport England, the Active Families Project will deliver positive experiences to children and families through a programme of weekly activities and heathy eating support. 

We are now seeking three Project Workers to join us for two year contracts and help set up and drive forward this new and exciting project. These are part time roles working 22.2 hours per week during term time only.

The Role 

As a Project Worker, you will play a key role in the planning and delivery of the Active Families Project. You will ensure quality interventions and sustainable outcomes through creatively planning and delivering the programme to quality standards and target numbers of families. 

Working in consultation with the Project Manager, you will recruit and supervise volunteers, facilitate active sessions, develop healthy recipes and provide hot meals to the families. 

Your role will also involve: 

- Maintaining liaison with schools and community organisations to support families post intervention 
- Monitoring family progression throughout the intervention 
- Supporting the safe recruitment, continuous training and development of volunteers 
- Ensuring the needs of vulnerable children and families are central in activity 

About You 

Interested? To be considered as a Project Worker, you will need: 

- Social care knowledge and/or experience of working with families 
- Previous experience of working with, or managing, volunteers 
- Proficiency in IT and competency in dealing with paperwork 
- An NVQ Level 3 qualification (or equivalent) 

Although not essential, a background in sport and/or nutrition would be beneficial to your application, as would experience of running family workshops. Local knowledge of the Medway area would also be an advantage.
