University of Portsmouth is a special place.

Progressive, vibrant and a testament to our city’s heritage, we are a new kind of university and a breath of fresh air in the academic world. We are intent on discovery and connecting with our local and global community.

As part of our new five-year strategy, we are investing significantly in growing the capacity and expertise within our Alumni Relations and Advancement team. To complete our first phase of recruitment, we are seeking two ambitious individuals to join us as our new Associate Director, Alumni Relations and Advancement, and Head of Fundraising.

The Head of Fundraising post was created to help build further fundraising capacity at the University of Portsmouth.  Reporting to the Associate Director of Alumni Relations & Advancement, the post holder will devise, implement and manage the University’s fundraising strategy and lead a growing team, as well as actively manage a portfolio of individual prospects to secure gifts for key institutional priorities.  Working alongside senior members of the department and the wider Marketing, Advancement and Communications directorate, the Head of Fundraising will contribute to the planning and implementation of fundraising and stewardship strategies to grow philanthropic income and support for the University.

You will bring a demonstrable fundraising track record, having worked specifically with corporate or individual major gift prospects and donors.  A sophisticated communicator with the ability to build relationships with people of all levels, you will be self-motivated, creative and contribute a strategic outlook and robust approach to fundraising for the University.  You will be confident in your ability to operate at this level and will bring excellent team leadership skills, outstanding written and verbal skills, and the ability to communicate complex projects to a range of audiences.

You will be joining us at an exciting time of growth and opportunity, and into an award winning directorate that has undergone considerable transformation and investment.  If you are able to work at this strategic level and ready to join a team and University on an upward trajectory, we’d like to hear from you.  To view the information pack for this exceptional opportunity, please visit the Richmond Associates website or to have a confidential discussion with the consulting team please contact Sonja Dunphy, Managing Director at Richmond Associates on +44 (0)20 3617 9240.
