Development Manager, Major Gifts

Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew

Kew, London

Competitive salary and benefits

Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew is a global resource for plant science and conservation and the world’s leading botanic garden.

We work across our sites in Kew and Wakehurst, and in countries around the world with global partners.  Our purpose is to safeguard the diversity of the Earth’s ecosystems by understanding and protecting the world’s plant life.  We want a world where plants and fungi are understood, valued, and conserved – because all our lives and livelihoods depend on them.

Over 350 people work in Kew Science, each contributing to global knowledge of plant life on our planet.  We have the world’s largest and most diverse collection of plants, and the world’s largest fungarium.  To tackle the urgent and immediate global threats, we need to expand and protect our collections, and make them fully accessible for scientific research.

Philanthropy and memberships play a key role in enabling our work.  To help solve some of the critical challenges facing humanity today, we are looking for two passionate and talented fundraisers to contribute to our success, in a Development Manager, Major Gifts and an Associate Director, Individual Giving & Legacies.

The Development Manager, Major Gifts will report to the Associate Director, Major Gifts and be responsible for maximising income from high net worth individuals, through building and stewarding relationships with major prospects, donors and senior volunteers. This is an opportunity to play a significant part in driving our major gifts programme forward.

You will be a confident fundraising professional, with a proven track record in, and understanding of, major gift fundraising including experience of personally securing individual donations of at least 5 figures. You have held and successfully nurtured a portfolio of donors and enjoy developing creative solicitation and cultivation strategies. A confident writer and relationship builder, you have experience of developing internal and external and relationships, and produce written proposals to a high standard.  An understanding and appreciation of our work is crucial to your success in this role.

Please contact our recruitment partner - Richmond Associates - to receive a detailed candidate information pack or to arrange a confidential discussion, on +44 (0) 20 3617 9240.

CLOSING DATE FOR APPLICATIONS IS 23:59, ON MONDAY, 11 NOVEMBER 2019.
