Senior Projects Officer (Fundraising)

Overview

As our senior projects officer (fundraising), you will collaborate on a diverse range of creative and innovative projects. As part of the business development team, your involvement will range from fundraising, marketing and event planning, to research, relationship cultivation and inspiring others to become champions for the organisation. 

With a substantial focus on projects seeking to raise charitable funds, you will assume responsibility for ensuring the successful delivery of funding plans. You will ensure that target amounts of money are raised to fund our innovative activities and community projects which tackle isolation and loneliness. 

You will proactively engage with local, business, and digital communities to raise awareness of our impact. Your enthusiasm, adaptability and problem-solving approach will encourage others to become active supporters of Carr Gomm – from corporate supporters to local advocates and fellow colleagues – and contribute to growing our overall network and reach.

Your creativity and storytelling will articulate the life-changing impact of our work through a range of media and platforms. You will understand and communicate the significance of this – that people are supported to overcome physical, psychological and societal barriers in order to live the life they want, follow new interests and create new community connections – and hence the importance of our team to make it possible. You will understand that the sooner we’ve achieved our objectives, and even exceeded our targets, the sooner we’ll be changing people’s lives and enhancing Carr Gomm.

About Carr Gomm

Carr Gomm is a leading Scottish social care and community development charity (SC033491). We currently support about 2,000 people every day across Scotland to live their lives safely and well according to their choices, whilst making plans to achieve their hopes and dreams for tomorrow.

A core part of our work is to fundraise in order to fill the gaps in society; to provide support where no one else is. Specifically, this work focuses on tackling the crippling issues of loneliness and isolation by bringing people together through a wide variety of community projects and activities. Last year, we fundraised over £800,000 to invest in this work, and are now looking to expand further and make an even bigger difference across Scotland.  

Your Responsibilities

Reporting to the business development manager, you will be working on a wide variety of projects, some of which will require you to take a lead role and work closely with our projects officers. Taking particular responsibility for fundraising projects, you will:

• co-create, deliver and review fundraising action plans, which detail the targets and outcomes we’re aiming to achieve
• source, submit and monitor grant applications, in liaison with others
• maintain accurate databases and financial monitoring to inform decision making
• proactively develop and expand our networks and connections
• source, create and write impact stories and social media content, utilising a range of media
• contribute to the research and development of innovative projects and activities

This outline is by no means exhaustive; rather it gives a flavour of the responsibilities undertaken by a senior projects officer and the wider team. The work of the business development team is varied, meaning your daily duties will consist of a fine balance between routine tasks and evolving projects.  We do not work alone, but interdependently in a cross-functional team, so there will always be colleagues available to support you, and equally requiring your help to meet our team objectives.
