Join our award-winning team. We engage people across the UK to achieve environmental and wellbeing benefits – and we need a creative and skilled communications led.

Our new executive will deliver promotions online and on-the-ground to inspire target audiences to take part in Grow Wild activities about UK native plants and fungi. We focus on youth-led projects, seed and fungus kits, community training and special campaigns.

Our new executive will also engage target audiences and celebrate their involvement by developing online channels, especially Grow Wild’s website, social media, email networks and case studies.

Grow Wild is part of the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew – a world leader in plant and fungi science and education.

Since 2014, Grow Wild has won multiple national awards for its scale, impact and creativity. The team has built large intellectual assets and engaged digital networks. Grow Wild was publicly voted the UK’s Best Environment Project in the National Lottery Awards on BBC1.

During 2020 and 2021, Grow Wild will run activities online and on-the-ground to achieve at least 150,000 positive actions each year by target audiences. The main target audiences will be children, young people and adults, especially those unengaged with nature and living in urban and disadvantaged areas.

Grow Wild will also deliver new outreach learning activities with additional funding from private, public and corporate contributions. This plan is made possible thanks to the ongoing support from the National Lottery Community Fund and other funders.

Requirements of the role

The successful applicant will have experience designing and delivering online and on-the-ground promotional plans to attract target audiences.

Experience managing digital channels is really important too, especially websites, social media and email networks. Plus skills in writing, editing and managing copy and images.

This role will be based at Kew Gardens with some UK travel and may be subject to enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service checks (DBS), including barred lists.

Recruitment process

Interviews are planned for late January/ early February 2020

Target start date: Early March or sooner

End date: December 2021, but this post may be extended subject to funding.
