About the role

At the Canal & River Trust, we believe life’s better by water, and that the waterways we take care of have an important contribution to make to the health and wellbeing of local communities and economies. That said, we’re protecting and improving canals and rivers all over the UK – and that kind of ambition takes equally ambitious fundraising, with strategy and partnerships on a national scale.

As our Corporate Engagement Partnerships Manager, you’ll be a big part of supporting that effort. You’ll lead on our national corporate partnerships; nurturing current relationships while also identifying and developing new partnerships that will provide briliant benefits and income to our charity. You’ll work with the wider team too to shape and drive our long-term corporate fundraising programme strategy, and ultimately, you’ll help keep us in a strong position to protect the nation’s waterways, now and in the future.

About you

We aim to protect every waterway in the UK, so we need innovative, entrepreneurial champions who set their sights high. You’ve got a proven track record in delivering on ambitious targets and smart strategy, securing and managing significant corporate partnerships that have brought real value to the teams you work with. Nothing fazes you: no matter the deadline, no matter the scope of the challenge, you stay calm, proactive, and attentive to the details, to deliver just what we need.

But you aren’t just driven by numbers: you’re also naturally good with people. As a confident, persuasive speaker, you’ll be an energising spokesperson for our fundraising efforts, both inside and outside our organisation. Plus, whether it’s trustees or volunteers, corporate partners or senior executives, you build lasting relationships every time. You’re not just an inspiring leader but a supportive and inclusive member of the team, keen to contribute in whatever way you can as you work with national and regional teams alike. In short, you’ve got your eyes on the prize of protecting our rivers and canals – and you know our efforts are stronger when we work together.

About us

We’re the charity who look after and bring to life 2000 miles of canals and rivers. Our waterways contribute to the health and wellbeing of local communities and economies, creating attractive and connected places to live, work, volunteer and spend leisure time. These historic, natural and cultural assets form part of the strategic and local green-blue infrastructure network, linking urban and rural communities as well as habitats. Our waterways are on the doorstep of 8 million people and reach some of the most deprived communities within the UK. By caring for our waterways and promoting their use we believe we can improve the wellbeing of our nation. Come and be part of it.

To apply

We aim to represent the diverse communities we are part of and welcome applicants from across all sectors of the community. We strongly believe that a diverse workforce brings with it a diversity of ideas, thinking and ways of working which enhances what we do.  Many of our vacancies can be considered for people who wish to work flexibly, job share or part time.
