JOB TITLE: Development Officer

SALARY: £29,631 - £35,440 (depending on experience)

HOURS: 37.5 hours a week

At Moorfields Eye Charity, we believe that we can help bring new treatments to patients and people with eye diseases faster than ever before. By raising funds for the crucial research, education and patient care at Moorfields Eye Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and its academic partner, the University College London (UCL) we are able to help ensure that they remain at the forefront of ophthalmic care and research.

Moorfields Eye Charity is in the early stages of a campaign, in partnership with UCL, to raise £100m to support the creation of a state-of-the-art integrated treatment, research and education centre in central London for Moorfields Eye Hospital and the UCL Institute of Ophthalmology.

We are seeking a Development Officer to secure major gifts from high net worth individuals, charitable foundations and corporates. The post holder will play a key role both in the delivery of our £100m campaign and in embedding the role of philanthropy across the partnership.

With experience in fundraising, you will have thorough knowledge of the voluntary sector and an understanding of the principles of major gifts. You will be confident in your ability to work across a range of internal and external audiences. You have excellent relationship building skills with a strong commitment to delivering the highest level of donor care.

Critical to your success will be your excellent interpersonal skills, and your ability to devise effective cultivation and stewardship strategies. Experience of securing major gifts at the five figure level would be advantageous but most important is your ability to work across a varied group of prospects and with critical internal stakeholders.

With the chance to be part an exciting and ambitious campaign and to work alongside some of the country’s leading clinicians and researchers, this is a fantastic opportunity to be part of a friendly and supportive team, with a strong focus on collaboration and working towards a shared goal. This position would suit a positive, proactive and ambitious individual looking for a role where they can make a difference.
