Age UK have a rare opportunity in our award-winning Fundraising team. This Head of Corporate Partnerships & Philanthropy will lead Age UK's high-performing Corporate Partnerships and Philanthropy fundraising team to deliver the existing high-value relationships we have in these areas and achieve the significant income growth that we know is possible.

Using your expertise, you will develop our national Corporate Partnerships strategy, enabling us to secure more varied and multi-faceted partnerships, whilst also overseeing our small but growing major donor function.

We ask all members of Age UK's Partnerships and Philanthropy department to work from our London hub at least once a week to enable collaboration, skills development and team dynamics (currently Thursdays).

From time to time, we may also require the successful candidate to come into our London hub for face-to-face meetings with funders and colleagues at other times in the week: as per the terms of our hybrid contracts we aim to give seven days' notice when this happens.

This role does not include oversight of Age Co commercial partnerships. This role will lead Corporate Partnerships and Major Donor Fundraising functions for the national charity Age UK.

Trusts and Statutory Grants fundraising is not within the remit of this role.

Must haves:

  • Extensive Corporate Partnerships experience within a national charity with similar income targets to Age UK (£6m from Corporate). Direct experience of philanthropy fundraising would also be an advantage but not essential - if theoretical knowledge is strong.
  • Experience empowering Corporate Partnerships teams to work at pace to deliver multi-million income targets and build long-term meaningful relationships with businesses. This should include proven success setting effective processes and KPIs to drive performance.
  • Experience building strategies for Corporate Partnerships fundraising. Plus, a proven ability to think on a long-term strategic level and to achieve long-term sustainable income growth.
  • Experience optimising CRM databases for pipeline and relationship management.
  • Proven success developing complex restricted fundraising bids and strategic partnerships that have secured six and seven figure multi-year investment from companies and corporate foundations.
  • Proven success securing and delivering large national Charity of the Year and brand/cause related marketing partnerships with household brand and products.
  • Proven ability to build confidence through productive and effective relationships with internal stakeholders, including those at senior level.
  • Proven outstanding donor-facing and relationship management skills including demonstrable ability to lead complex negotiations between charity and funder.
  • Outstanding working knowledge of Corporate Partnerships compliance and legal matters - including due diligence, contract negotiation, solicitation statements and the application of VAT to commercial participator agreements and contracts for services.
  • An interest in Philanthropy Fundraising and a strong grasp of the key principles.
  • Solid experience managing team budgets (income and expenditure) including multi-year forecasting, quarterly reforecasting, accurate and realistic income phasing.

You'll also have:

  • An ambitious and creative approach. We have identified Corporate Partnerships as a key area of income growth, and the successful candidate will share this vision and have the ability to realise it given Age UK's assets and potential.
  • A curious mind. We are seeking someone with excellent knowledge of their funding landscape, who is proactively abreast of innovation and developments within this area and the opportunities these could present to Age UK.
  • The ability to navigate complexities and ambiguities internally and with funders. The successful candidate will excel at problem solving and driving an agile, flexible and creative approach in their team.
  • A keen interest in the wider fundraising mix and an ability to work with leaders across other fundraising and income generating functions to generate the most income in the round.
  • A genuine passion to join Age UK in supporting older people and a belief the partnerships with statutory funders, trusts and foundations are critical to achieving our strategic goals.

  • Excellent pension scheme, life assurance, health cashback plan and EAP.
