Bishop’s Stortford Youth Project and Thirst Youth Café are looking for a new Community Fundraiser and Communications Manager to raise awareness, generate income and encourage volunteering.

Community Fundraiser and Communications Manager
Salary range is £10 - £12.50 per hour (£7,800 – £9,750 Pro Rata - £19,500 - £24,375 FTE).
Contract: 12 months
Location of work: This role will require a mix of working from home, the office and in the community (subject to covid restrictions)
The position is part time, 15 hours per week, and will require some flexibility to meet needs of role. There is an opportunity to negotiate flexible working for the right candidate.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, self-motivated, excellent communicator with strong interpersonal and organisational skills and the ability to meet, and hopefully exceed targets!

About the role

The position includes the following responsibilities:

Community Fundraising

  • Develop, implement, monitor and evaluate the charity’s community fundraising strategy.
  • Establish, manage and grow individual, corporate and community fundraising streams including working with local schools and churches.
  • Build relationships and manage stewardship of donors to maximise income.
  • Create, plan and manage annual fundraising calendar of events and campaigns.
  • Work in partnership with external organisations, businesses, agencies and local government to identify and develop income opportunities.
  • Work closely with the youth work team when developing fundraising programmes and events.
  • Achieve annual fundraising target.

Communications

  • PR – Build relationships with local press and media to raise awareness of Bishop’s Stortford Youth Project and Thirst Youth Café. Develop press releases and marketing materials.
  • External communications – Development of newsletters and external communications to current and potential supporters. Contribute information for the Annual Review and other publications as required.
  • Website and Social Media Platforms – manage website and social media content to build supporter base.
  • Content – to produce relevant content and case studies to support fundraising/ communications.
  • GDPR – ensure all communications comply with GDPR requirements.

About you

The ideal candidate will have the following characteristics:

  • A passion for the work and mission of the Bishop’s Stortford Youth Project.
  • Excellent written skills with the ability to produce concise and persuasive writing.
  • Excellent communication, presentation and interpersonal skills to build strong relationships
  • with supporters.
  • Team player to deliver Bishop’s Stortford Youth Project’s vision.
  • Self-motivated with excellent planning and time management skills.
  • Target focused – ideally experience of meeting/ exceeding targets within Charity/Corporate sectors.
