Head of Fundraising and Community Engagement
Kentish Town - North West London
Part-time position - c.14 hours per week with flexibility
Salary - £30,000 pro rata
Brandon Centre is a registered charity that provides young people aged under 25 with access to free and confidential specialist support around their psychological, emotional, mental health and sexual health needs. We predominately work with young people in Camden, Islington and other London boroughs and our mission is to expand our network to support even more young people who we hope will truly benefit from our services.
As we embark on our next stage of development, and with an enviable reputation for the services we provide, we are now in a position to recruit an experienced Head of Fundraising and Community Engagement.
This is a new, exciting and pivotal role that will help us to develop and lead our fundraising and communications team. With your expertise in corporate and community fundraising - which are new areas of development for Brandon Centre, you will help us to develop and implement our wider fundraising and communications strategies. As part of this role you will have the opportunity to recruit and develop a team of volunteers and young ambassadors to support us and broaden our engagement and fundraising within our local communities.
Your personal focus will be to increase Brandon Centre’s income through corporate partnerships, sponsorship and major donors. Bringing new business into Brandon Centre will be your primary focus and where you will account manage and build relationships with future partners and stakeholders.
The role will be expected to generate an income of c.£200,000 in 2021-22 through potential donors and other revenue streams. Strong pitch creation and relationship building skills are vital to develop plans for the individuals concerned and to support our CEO and Trustees in making the ask.
You will be part of an experienced and ambitious Leadership Team that also includes the Head of People & Governance and Head of Finance & Performance. Reporting directly to the CEO, there may be occasions where you will deputise in her absence.
Core responsibilities will involve:
- Fundraising – Strategy, Communications, Grant Funding, Major Donors, Corporates (local and national) and Reporting
- Campaigns and Communications – Branding, Media, Campaigns, Digital, Events, Strategy
- Monitoring and Evaluation – Including marketing, communications and fundraising activities seeking continuous improvement and high return on investment
- Working Relationships – Internal – Working closely with the CEO and Senior Leadership Team to ensure strong integration of communications and the income generation strategy. External – Seeking and engaging with external partners, media, funders and supporters. Build and maintain excellent relationships with peers in the Young People’s & charitable sectors and major funders & donors.
- Leadership/Management of the Campaigns & Community Engagement Team – Providing clear and consistent leadership and management of the team along with some volunteers and young ambassadors. As income increases there will be further scope to develop and recruit additional community engagement and corporate partnerships portfolio
Already a key performer in the charity or not for profit sector, you will need evidence of successful corporate fundraising and multi-year partnerships of a minimum £100k value. Experience of developing and delivering organisation-wide fundraising strategies and tactical plans, along with a proven track record of managing and exceeding fundraising targets is essential.
A proven track record of organising community and engagement events will be extremely useful complemented by a good understanding of communications strategy, particularly in relation to planning marketing campaigns based on evidence of customer insight.
This role will particularly suit an experienced Fundraising Manager looking to expand your portfolio to communications, or maybe an excellent Corporate Partnerships Fundraiser looking to take a step up in your career. A good knowledge and understanding of equality and gender issues will be necessary.
