Camphill is a worldwide movement with over 100 independent charities (often referred to as ‘communities’) supporting individuals with additional support needs to lead meaningful lives and to reach their fullest potential. The organisation began here, in Scotland, in 1939 through a group of Austrian refugees. They sought societal change in the way disadvantaged and vulnerable people were treated and cared for. There are 11 Camphill charities in Scotland, from Aberdeen to Dumfries and Galloway, supporting over 500 people from early childhood through to older age. In Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire, there are 7 Camphill charities. Camphill Estates owns the land occupied by 5 of them. They are independent charities but work together under the Camphill Estates umbrella for the common good.

Each community varies in size and different communities specialise in working with people at different stages in their lives. These communities can be found in urban and in rural settings and although each community offers different opportunities, they all share a common life-sharing community ethos:

Everyone is appreciated for who they are, their unique personality and the special qualities they bring to community life.

Camphill Estates has engaged in fundraising at a fairly low level over the years but its ambitions have changed and so has its approach to fundraising. Recent work with consultants has produced a master plan for the estate which includes a list of capital projects costing at least £15million. This has lead to the creation of the post of Director of Fundraising to transform the fundraising operation and raise the money to deliver these projects.

If you love the Camphill ethos and would love to be part of this community as well as improving the quality of life and services for the service users, then please consider this opportunity. As the salary indicates, you will need to be a very experienced and senior fundraiser who is expert in multiple income streams, not least grants and trusts and major donor fundraising. You will have grown income in your previous organisations to a significant level. You must have delivered at least one capital appeal, on time and on target. You will also be a great strategist, leader and manager who can inspire an organisation and team to deliver success. You will also have oversight of the fundraising communications and marketing, so should have lead on this function too.
