Job Description

Job Title:            Development Officer – Institutions

Reporting to:      Head of Trusts and Foundations

Hours:                   Monday to Friday (37.5 hours per week)

Location:              Cambridge, UK

Overview

CAMFED (Campaign for Female Education) is an international non-profit organisation tackling poverty and inequality by supporting marginalised girls to go to school and succeed, and empowering young women to step up as leaders of change. Since 1993, CAMFED’s innovative education programmes in Zimbabwe, Zambia, Ghana, Tanzania and Malawi have directly supported more than 4 million students to attend primary and secondary school.

Job Purpose

As a key member of the fundraising team, the Development Officer - Institutions will primarily support the development and delivery of the Institutional fundraising objectives, covering both Trusts and Foundations, and Corporates, working closely with the Head of Trusts and Foundations and the Manager of Corporate Relations. S/he will also provide support to the wider Development Fundraising team to increase income through prospect research, proposal support and effective data management.

Specific Accountabilities

Research and administration

  • Support the Team with research and due diligence profiles, particularly on Trusts and Foundations and Corporates
  • Work with the Head of Trusts and Foundations and the Manager of Corporate Relations to create information, materials, thank you letters and acknowledgements for Institutional donors, according to the Global Fundraising Structure and SOPs
  • Maintain accurate data records in Salesforce
  • Uphold GDPR regulations at all times and manage complaints within best practice guidelines
  • Other duties as assigned.

Proposal support and development

  • Support the development of 12-20 proposals or reports per year for the Development Fundraising Team in the role of “proposal support” or “relationship support” within the institutional fundraising stream
  • Develop good knowledge of CAMFED’s current programmes and grants through working with the development operations team to support in the development of proposals
  • Research country and programme specific statistics, contextual and organisational information for proposal development
  • Write elements of proposals for the institutional team
  • Maintain accurate salesforce records in accordance with the Salesforce for Fundraising protocols and Global Fundraising Structure and SOPs.

Coordination of Institutional programmes

  • Support the Head of Trusts and Foundations and the Manager of Corporate Relations in the development and delivery of the Trusts and Foundations and Corporate programmes
  • Create and maintain reports and data in Salesforce that inform the Trusts and Foundations and Corporate programmes, including dashboards
  • Support the Head of Trusts and Foundations and the Manager of Corporate Relations in effective stewardship of existing donors through outreach, developing materials and event support
  • Work with the Manager of Corporate Relations on the CRM strategy, as a subsect of the Corporate strategy, to respond in a timely manner to requests for partnerships and steward appropriately
  • Proactively identify and research potential prospects to add to the Institutional pipeline of opportunities
  • Any other duties as required.

  • Strong communication skills - written and verbal with the ability to develop content for a variety of audiences
  • Proactive, ability to work to tight deadlines, prioritise tasks and manage multiple workstreams
  • Ability to research, analyse and collate information
  • Working knowledge of databases and Google Suite would be advantageous although training will be given
  • Ability to take initiative and develop solutions to challenges as they arise
