Job Title: Development Officer - Institutions

Report To:          Head of Trusts and Foundations

Hours: Monday – Friday 09:00 until 17:30 (37.5hrs per week), with flexibility 

Start Date:          ASAP

What’s the role?

This role will work closely with the Head of Trusts and Foundations and the Manager of Corporate Relations to develop robust and high-quality funding proposals. You will also provide support to the wider Development Fundraising team to increase income through prospect research, proposal support and effective data management. You can expect the following responsibilities:

Proposal support and development

  • Support the development of 12-20 compelling and professionally-presented funding proposals, concept notes or reports per year, each tailored to specific Trust, Foundation, and Corporate audiences.
  • Develop a strong knowledge of CAMFED’s current programmes and work with other teams to clearly communicate complex information in writing that persuades and motivates Trusts, Foundations and Corporates to support.
  • Research country and programme specific statistics, contextual and organisational  information and write summary notes to support proposal development. 
  • Maintain accurate salesforce records in accordance with internal fundraising processes and structures.

Research and administration

  • Complete research and due diligence profiles for prospective Trusts, Foundations and Corporates partners.
  • Work with the Head of Trusts and Foundations and the Manager of Corporate Relations to create emails updates, thank you letters and acknowledgements for Institutional donors, according to the Global Fundraising Structure and SOPs.
  • Maintain accurate data records in Salesforce, CAMFED’s CRM.
  • Uphold GDPR regulations at all times and manage complaints within best practice guidelines.

 Coordination of Institutional programmes

  • Support the Head of Trusts and Foundations and the Manager of Corporate Relations in the development and delivery of the Trusts and Foundations and Corporate programmes.
  • Create and maintain reports, dashboards and data in Salesforce to inform the Trusts and Foundations and Corporate programmes/future pipelines.
  • Support the Head of Trusts and Foundations and the Manager of Corporate Relations in effective stewardship of existing donors through outreach, fundraising materials and informal update reports.
  • Proactively identify and research potential prospects to add to the Institutional pipeline of opportunities.
  • Any other duties as required.

Skills and qualities for the role:

  • Demonstrable skills in developing complex and compelling written proposals, collating information from a variety of sources.
  • Strong writing skills with the ability to develop content for a variety of audiences.
  • Proactive, with a proven ability to progress multiple workstreams, prioritise tasks and work to tight deadlines at the same time.
  • Ability to research, analyse and collate information
  • Ability to take initiative and develop solutions to challenges as they arise.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills and effective working in a team environment.
  • Impeccable attention to detail and the ability to manage your time effectively.
