  • Location Remote
  • Job Type Permanent, Part-time
  • Sectors Housing and Homelessness
  • Job Reference :

There is no single route into homelessness and no ‘one size fits all’ solution to helping people towards more positive and stable futures. People become homeless for many different reasons including social causes, such as limited affordable housing, poverty and unemployment, and life events, ill-health and trauma. Others can be forced into homelessness when they leave prison, the care system or the armed forces with no home to go to.

Cyrenians tackle the causes and consequences of homelessness and work to provide everybody with the opportunity to lead a valued and fulfilling life. Recognising that support has to be person-centred and relationship-based, Cyrenians work alongside people to help them make the positive changes required in their lives.

Having grown from 70 to 170 people and 35 to 57 services in the past 5 years, Cyrenians has also had significant growth in their Social Enterprise programmes. These support the vital work of Cyrenians in tackling the causes and consequences of homelessness and allow the charity to give back to communities where they are present.

There is a commitment and stated strategic aim to continue growing social enterprise activity and generate more unrestricted reserves in this area. The Social Enterprise Fundraiser will build on the work of the previous post-holder who has left to return to education after 15 years at Cyrenians and focus on increasing support for Cyrenians social enterprises from independent grant-making trusts and other income sources.

The Social Enterprise Fundraiser will work with the Senior Relationships Manager to develop and deliver a fundraising strategy for their varied social enterprises. Cyrenians deliver 57 services and you will be a creative and compelling storyteller who can bring the stories of these services to life. This will increase support levels for their social enterprises and as relationships develop, experience stewarding funder relationships will be a key part of your role. You must have knowledge, understanding and experience of social outcomes and funders' expectations on evidencing social outcomes. You will be producing accurate and well-presented work which will require excellent writing skills and these should also accompany strong verbal communication skills. The role is home-based with occasional travel to Edinburgh, West Lothian and Falkirk offices and you should be self-sufficient, motivated and driven to generate income for Cyrenians.

This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate and motivated individual to join a friendly and inclusive organisation where professional development is encouraged and everyone feels proud at delivering incredible support that make a significant positive impact on lives and communities.
