About the role

We have an exciting opportunity for you to join us on a fixed-term contract as our Head of Business Development, maternity cover. You will manage a small team and work across all departments, leading the end-to-end business development process, corporate outreach, fundraising and overseeing grant applications.

The post-holder will cover the whole spectrum of income development and will need to be able to think strategically yet be able to roll up their sleeves and work at an operational level, drawing on the skills they have gained through business development, consultancy and project management.

Duties include:

  • Lead the development and implementation of organisational fundraising
  • Lead the development of a ‘commercial opportunities and marketing plan’ to develop and grow our for-profit business
  • Provide monthly updates for the Executive Team on the income generation pipeline and success against targets
  • Coordinate and review all new concepts for design for new fundraising projects and provide oversight and sign-off proposals, applications and bids
  • Build relationships with new and existing clients and funders

About you

You will be a real people-person, with experience in fundraising, or perhaps sales. You will certainly have a proven track record of business development with at least three years at a senior level, as the primary focus for the maternity cover is to strategically develop our consultancy practice: operationalising recommendations, identifying new markets, products and services and winning new sources of income.

For this role, experience of working in international development is an advantage but not essential however we are looking for someone with experience of developing commercial opportunities, through consultancy products and services, ideally relevant to data in development.

We are looking for a proactive, commercial individual with drive and initiative who will join our team while the current post-holder takes maternity leave. We are experimenting with a blended approach to home and office working and so are flexible on your location, provided that you are based within the UK and can visit our offices in Bristol on a regular basis, at least 4 to 6 times a month.

If you would like to contribute to increasing the impact of a dynamic organisation committed to ending poverty, we would love to hear from you. Please download and read the full recruitment pack and apply with your CV and cover letter.

The client requests no contact from agencies or media sales.
