Fundraising Manager

FareShare South West is looking for a Fundraising Manager to join our fast paced, fast growing charity and drive our fundraising strategy to the next level, so that we can get more good food to vulnerable people. 

Context of the role 

Our charity has been expanding fast over the past three years. In 2017 we were supporting around 130 charities, schools and community groups with a food supply, and stopping around 300 tonnes of quality surplus food from going to waste. In 2020, our charity looks different. Last year we supported 290 charities and distributed over 550 tonnes of surplus food (enough for over 1 million meals). We expanded our operation into new regions of the South West and launched programmes to target specific beneficiary groups (eg: vulnerable children). This year, we turned our entire operation on its head to deliver an Emergency Food Operation in response to Covid-19 in addition to our existing work- more than quadrupling in size in three short months. We have emerged a much larger charity than we were before Covid, with hundreds more charities relying on our food. Against a backdrop of unprecedented levels of food insecurity, we believe it is more important than ever to stop surplus food from becoming waste. 

Our ideal candidate

We are seeking an ambitious, creative Fundraising Manager who can apply their experience to sustainable and strategic growth across our fundraising portfolio. This includes development of existing fundraising streams as well as the creation of new processes, strategies and resources to kickstart growth of newer fundraising streams and opportunities. Alongside our Head of Development, they will build on relationships with our friends and supporters in Bristol and beyond to engage and inspire support for our work. We need a fundraiser who understands the need of our growing charity to be agile and innovotive in the context of fast-moving need and opportunity, while also instilling solid structure and process in our core fundraising activity. 

Our new Fundraising Manager will be part of our wider Development team, and will report to our Head of Development. The Development Team covers Fundraising, Communications and Membership (our Membership team looks after our 300+ charity members). We want to unite all three strands of this team to ensure our work is as joined-up as possible, delivering cross-cutting campaigns, effective communication and content that supports the sustainable growth of our charity’s income streams. This role will be based principally at our offices in Bristol, but could include the option of working from home on occasion. This role is advertised as full time but part time working would be considered for the right candidate.
