Heart Research UK is a visionary charity founded in 1967 by Mr David Watson, a working heart surgeon, who realised that patients were dying unnecessarily because of the lack of research into heart disease, especially surgical techniques. Having funded six of the first eight successful UK heart transplants, the charity now leads the way funding ground-breaking, medical research projects into the prevention, treatment, and cure of heart disease.

In Scotland, sadly 47 people a day die from cardiovascular disease. In Scotland, the death rate from coronary heart disease is 50% higher than in the south-east of England. Heart Research UK don’t think that’s fair, and that’s why the Heart of Scotland Appeal was established – to raise money in Scotland, for Scotland.

• Experience of developing and maintaining supporter relationships with individuals, groups, and organisations

• Proven track record of income generation

• The ability to generate, nurture and develop relationships

• Strong communications skills, with the ability to adapt to suit various situations

• Ability to motivate and inspire others

• Ability to deal with a varied workload, and capable of prioritising

Heart Research UK has been helping hearts near you for 50 years, funding ground-breaking medical research to benefit patients. If you believe you have the skills and attributes to continue this wonderful work, leading the Heart of Scotland Appeal, then we want to hear from you.
