IDPE is a family-friendly organisation.  This is a hybrid role with a requirement to work in the office one day per week during term time.  Flexible working is available during school holidays with no requirement to attend the office. 

Job Purpose

IDPE is a membership organisation, supporting fundraisers in schools.The Head of Content plays a vital role in IDPE’s member retention activities, overseeing the creation and management of all member resources, writing and sourcing content for communications and developing programmes for all events within the IDPE professional development programme.

This post may be of particular interest to applicants who have worked in a fundraising role and are passionate about fundraising and community engagement in education. 

Key responsibilities

Content management of IDPE’s professional development programme

  • Identifying members’ training needs, curating professional development content and developing a professional development programme tailored to the needs of schools’ development professionals.  This includes training programmes, accreditation, webinars, workshops and conferences, including the flagship IDPE Annual Conference
  • Keeping abreast of sector trends, topical issues and legislative changes and translating these into a compelling professional development programme
  • Understanding member need through attending member forums, liaising with the membership manager and CEO, monitoring member communications, evaluating feedback and coordinating peer groups
  • Acting as one of the ‘faces’ of IDPE’s professional development offering.  Representing IDPE at cross-association meetings to discuss sector-wide training and working with the CEO in the development and  delivery of events in collaboration with other associations
  • Working closely with the Marketing and Communications Coordinator, to ensure each event is marketed accurately and provide input into content and marketing strategy

Content management of IDPE’s members’ resource library

  • Managing a library of online resources for members ensure content is engaging, current and factually correct
  • Sourcing and reviewing new resources

Marketing and communications

  • Working closely with IDPE’s Marketing and Communications Coordinator to develop and manage a timetable of communications across multiple channels
  • Overseeing the content distributed through all member communications, sourcing articles and other resources and writing articles
  • Ensuring that members are kept informed of the latest fundraising, legal, political and regulatory changes affecting the schools’ development sector
  • Writing press releases, key messages, blogs and other promotional copy as required
  • Building contacts with the media and generating PR opportunities

Knowledge

Essential

  • A solid knowledge of fundraising and community engagement within either the education or charitable sectors
  • IT literate with a good understanding of MS Office.

Desirable

  • Knowledge of IDPE and the needs of its members

Experience

Essential

  • Experience working in a fundraising role in the charity and/or education sector
  • Senior level communication – comfortable communicating and engaging at a senior level both internally and externally
  • Copywriting experience, creating compelling messages for a range of audiences.  This includes writing promotional copy both online and in print
