Working within the Engagement Department, this role will drive UK public sector and university engagement to ensure we deliver our ambitious growth plans. We need someone to join the team who is a great communicator who can sell the difference that working with the Trust can make in encouraging young people to take up a career relating to Science, Technology, Engineering or Maths whilst acquiring life, leadership and engineering skills, leading to increased numbers of engineers for the benefit of UK engineering.

You will be expected to work with the Trust’s existing relationships with UK universities and creating new ones through being an ambassador for the Trust at events and networking.

Other duties of the role will include:

  • Strategically nurturing and developing UK Universities to become hosts for Smallpeice Trust events, sponsors of Arkwright Engineering Scholarships, and providers of academic content across our programmes. This will include both existing and prospective accounts.
  • Oversee relationships and production of reports for stakeholders (internal and external) in line with KPIs and set targets.
  • Building and developing the new business pipeline with government organisations, the Armed Services and UK universities through outbound calling and visits to existing and potential partners.
  • Ensuring that the Trust assesses on-going educational programmes including design, funding, venues, content and business partnerships.
  • Developing and implementing the public sector growth plan.
  • Representing the Trust UK wide with occasional European and international travel.
  • Preparation and presentation of business cases/reports.

Essential Skills/Knowledge

  • Maximum of 5 years’ experience in public sector relationship management and fundraising.
  • Ability to manage and maintain own pipeline.
  • Confident communicator with an ability to write pitches and proposals and communicate at all levels.
  • IT proficient, experience of working with a CRM (ideally Microsoft Dynamic) and an excellent administrator.
  • Full driving license and ability to travel, including overnight stays and out of hours working when necessary.
