Hours: 37.5 per week; this is a FT opportunity but a contract of between 30 and 37.5 hrs a week will be considered for the right postholder

About us

The Museum of Royal Worcester is an independent museum and charitable trust looking after and making accessible the largest collection of Worcester porcelain in the world and the important factory archive. It cares for and engages people with more than 250 years of innovation, design and skill in the place where it was made. The Museum was re-opened in Summer 2018 with completely renovated displays following a £1.7m National Lottery Heritage Fund-supported refurbishment project.

About the role

The post of Development Manager is a new role created to build a strong and stable future for the Museum and enable it to increase its reach and impact. This is an exciting opportunity to design and deliver the Museum’s fundraising and income generation strategies to maximise and diversify funding streams, build the organisation’s capacity and activity, and capitalise on and expand the Museum’s supporters’ networks. The scope of the role includes:

  • Researching and assessing new funding opportunities
  • Developing fundraising applications to grant-making bodies
  • Developing relationships with a wide range of people from major funders to individual donors
  • Establishing strategic fundraising activities including a legacy campaign, corporate engagement and community fundraising
  • Managing and delivering campaigns and events

The successful candidate will bring:

  • A strong track record of raising funds from charitable trusts and foundations and individuals
  • Experience of grant applications in the field of arts, heritage and museums e.g. Arts Council England, National Lottery, landfill tax
  • Experience of researching, developing and realising new fundraising prospects,
  • Experience of managing fundraising targets and the ability to work flexibly towards those targets
  • Enthusiasm for and experience of working in a hands-on way for a small charity

You may have worked in the following roles: Fundraising Officer; Fundraising Manager; Development Officer; Development Manager; Commercial Manager; Giving Manager, Donor Relationship Manager etc.
