As part of the Fundraising and Communications Department this role is responsible for raising income from individuals by using a range of public fundraising techniques, delivering an exceptional supporter experience, and deepening relationships with donors and fundraisers. The role will work across Community and National Events and the Individual Giving programme, including appeals, gaming, in Memory/in Celebration and legacy gifts.

You will be a great storyteller, passionate about working with supporters to maximise income for the charity and adept at managing internal and external relationships.You will manage agencies and external suppliers and feel confident communicating with our supporters both in writing and face to face.

Working alongside the rest of the Fundraising and Comms team you will use the most appropriate channel to reach our target audiences at the right time with the best product to allow them to support the work of my-AFK.

Principle Responsibilities

Individual Giving

  • Deliver a compelling, coherent and engaging experience across audiences, channels and activities to deliver a range of on and offline communications with a donation call to action
  • Manage the appeals, gaming and newsletter programmes to deliver income and return on investment
  • Assist the Director of Fundraising and Comms to launch new individual giving products to maximise engagement and income
  • Develop supporter journeys, both on and offline, to steward individuals and ensure they feel valued and committed to my-AFK and will go on to give again

Community and National Events

  • Play a major role in the delivery of key events throughout the year, including AFK Beach Volleyball, across audiences and channels, ensuring income and engagement is maximised
  • Deliver all aspects of the national events programme, including the London Marathon, and identify new opportunities to increase participation in virtual and in person events
  • Work with the wider fundraising team to deliver my-AFK’s community fundraising programme with a focus on supporting key target audiences to raise money and improving the programme in the local area

Financial Management and Reporting

  • Regularly review performance of campaigns and report back on expenditure/income and KPIs
  • Update income dashboards as agreed with the Director of Fundraising and Comms
  • Develop campaign budgets and reforecast income across streams, ensuring that the Fundraising Director is informed of any variances in income, and year on year income is monitored

Database and Reporting

  • Use the CRM to record and analyse income as well as for data extraction to deliver campaigns and end to end supporter journeys
  • Undertake a comprehensive and routine evaluation of all public fundraising activity including preparing reports for colleagues and the leadership team

Person Specification

Essential

  • Ability to write persuasive content and create engaging fundraising messaging for a for a variety of audiences and across multiple channels
  • Experience in running local events and/or national participation events
  • Experience in raising money from individuals via fundraising or through donations
  • Experience or willingness to learn about Legacy marketing programmes
  • Ability to monitor and analyse income and expenditure budgets and produce meaningful KPIs
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and tight deadlines with a proactive approach
  • Friendly, positive, flexible and adaptable team player
  • Excellent IT skills including knowledge of MS Office packages
  • Experience of using a CRM to record contacts and income and for reporting

Desirable

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent
  • At least three years’ experience in a fundraising environment or with demonstrable transferable skills
  • Experience of managing external supplier relationships
  • Understanding of the changing principles and trends within public fundraising

General
