Imagine not being able to move, sleep, or smile. Feeling anxious or depressed and struggling to think or remember. Your body not feeling like your own. This is what Parkinson's can feel like.

Your mum, son or friend. Anyone can get Parkinson’s, young or old. Every hour, two people in the UK are told they have Parkinson's – a progressive neurological condition. It causes problems in the brain and gets worse over time. Currently there is no cure.

We’re close to major breakthroughs. Funding the right research into the most promising treatments, we get closer to a cure every day.

Until then, we're here for everyone affected by Parkinson’s. Fighting for fair treatment and better services.
We are Parkinson's UK. Powered by people. Together we'll find a cure. Join us.

About the role

With an estimated budget of £36m for 2019 and 425 staff, we are looking for an exceptional individual to lead our Engagement and Fundraising teams.   This is an exciting time to be joining Parkinson’s UK as we embark on our new 2020 - 25 strategy and move ever closer to finding a cure.

The engagement directorate was launched in November 2019 and brought together fundraising and communications teams and colleagues. As such this new role comes at an exciting time at the charity when we will be developing new approaches to supporter engagement. This is not a traditional director of fundraising role - it is broader and more exciting than that, as if that were possible.

What you'll do

You’ll support the Director of Engagement in developing and delivering the charity’s engagement strategy to deliver ambitious income and supporter growth. With your leadership and direction in key, frontline Fundraising business areas, you will  inspire and nurture the very best fundraising talent at the charity.

Through thoughtful and inspiring leadership you will play a pivotal  role in  driving the growth of the UK Parkinson’s movement, increase understanding, attitudes  and encouraging creativity amongst our Engagement and Fundraising staff, so that we seize every chance to get Parkinson’s noticed.

What you'll bring

The ideal candidate will:

  • have demonstrable experience leading and inspiring multi discipline teams.
  • be a successful relationship fundraiser with a proven track record in at least two of the fundraising disciplines; high value giving, commercial partnerships, legacies and individual giving activity.
  • have proven experience of developing a strategy and delivering an operational plan which is monitored and reviewed
  • be able to use audience insight and data to drive change and improvement in a mid-size organisation
  • have knowledge and experience of delivering successful integrated campaigns
  • have effective influencing and communication skills, with a motivated and engaging style
  • be driven and proactive , able to find and create opportunities
  • This is an exciting time for Parkinson’s UK and we would love you to join us!
