Major Grants and Proposition Lead

Maximising the value and contribution of our funders is fundamental to Parkinson’s UK delivering the impact we want to see for people affected by Parkinson's. Building networks, understanding what motivates our supporters, and aligning our programmes to their grantmaking strategies is key to our growth plans for Major Gifts.

Our Major Gifts and Special Events function are a dynamic and high-performing team. We have a well established programme raising between £5 - £7 million a year across the department to fund our vital work but big ambitions to grow that further by 2024. 

We have an exciting opportunity for someone to lead the trusts and statutory team of six as a Major Grants and Proposition Lead on a fixed term contract for 12 months. You’ll develop and implement strategies to ensure the team meets its income target and effectively pursues new major grant opportunities. You will collaborate with teams and leaders across the charity to design fundable programmes and to create, manage and develop relationships with the UK’s best known funders, attracting new support for our pioneering research and award-winning UK-wide services. 

You’ll contribute to a step change in the charity’s income, through your own portfolio and line management of two fundraising Managers, reporting into the Head of Major Gifts. Now is an important time for Parkinson’s UK as we accelerate our ‘Transforming Parkinson’s Together’ strategy and we drive forward our growth ambitions within major gifts. What you’ll do:

• Oversee the team’s cultivation of strong working relationships with key funders to maximise their long-term support, achieving your own income target.
• Lead and manage the involvement of the charity’s senior staff and volunteers in engaging with trust and statutory funders
• Lead on identifying funding opportunities across the charity particularly to maximise funds from high value audiences

What you’ll bring:

• Proven experience of trust and/or statutory fundraising at a strategic level
• Ability to work effectively with a range of senior people, influencing them to support new projects through written proposals, meetings, site visits and calls.
• Proven ability to identify and create compelling multi-year fundable programmes including complex project budgets and fundraising targets

As well as flexible working hours, this role is offered on a flexible contract giving you the opportunity to also work from home, on an agreed working pattern.  You will be required to cover your own travel expenses to the office.
