We bring the magic of cinema into NHS hospitals

Born through the vision of our founder Christine Hill, who had the idea of installing a full, industry-standard cinema into the heart of St Thomas’ Hospital in London, we were founded in 1996 to transform patients’ lives for the better, through the power of film and the escape of cinema.

Two decades on, we have six full MediCinema venues across the country and these purpose-built and purpose-run cinemas screen for free the latest releases the film industry has to offer; they are set up to accommodate patients in wheelchairs, beds, on drips or monitors, and are staffed by trained volunteers and nurses. The research we commissioned shows that the experience that we provide helps to reduce stress and anxiety, and can help patients feel less isolated.

Our vision is to be able to scale up our efforts and reach many more patients.  To help us realise this, we are now seeking a new Director of Development who will design and drive a comprehensive fundraising strategy and play a key role in increasing philanthropic income for MediCinema.

You will be confident in your ability to operate at Director level and have a proven track record of working with corporate partners to deliver highly successful income generating activities.  To succeed in this role, you will be an entrepreneurial, inclusive and collaborative member of the senior management team, with experience of leading and motivating staff, and bring an imaginative and flexible approach to achieving outstanding results.  In return, you will have the support of a committed team and highly engaged CEO and Trustees, and have an opportunity to make a real impact on the lives of thousands of people.

If this sounds like the career challenge you’re looking for next, we’d love to hear from you.  Please contact our recruitment partners at Richmond Associates to arrange a confidential chat or to request further information.

Closing date for applications is 10am Wednesday, 8 December 2021.
