Head of Trusts and Foundations

Imperial War Museums

Location: IWM sites in London, Duxford or Manchester, with a willingness to travel regularly to London

Salary: up to £50,000 pa,

IWM is one of the worlds leading authorities on conflict and its impact on peoples lives from 1914 through to the present day and beyond.

We ensure that our audiences are aware of the global impact of war and our collections are filled with personal and vivid stories and experiences, inspiring powerful and often conflicting emotions. We engage with audiences through conversations that ask difficult questions, facilitate debate, and encourage exploration, to increase understanding of why we go to war and the effect that conflict has on people’s lives, and to look at war and conflict from different perspectives.  In other words, we expect our stories to change the way people think about war.

With the transformation and recent re-opening of our £30M Second World War and Holocaust Galleries, we are poised for the next stage of our evolution.  We have several key masterplans for IWM Duxford and IWM North as well as the Transforming 3 Phase of IWM London, and are seeking an experienced fundraiser who will help us to engage with Trusts, Foundations and Statutory funders to support these initiatives.  The Head of Trusts & Foundations will coordinate our efforts and ensure that funders are stewarded well, and that the impact of their support is clearly demonstrated.

This role offers an exciting opportunity for a trusts specialist to maximise income for our plans. You will design the trusts strategy and work closely with a small, highly committed team to prepare proposals, deliver income, and report back on impact.  Your fundraising experience will include a thorough understanding of trusts and foundations and a track record of successful applications (at the five-figure+ level) including, ideally, to the Heritage Lottery Fund.  Experience of building relationships with key charitable trust and foundation contacts and excellent donor care is essential, and you will ideally bring experience of managing fundraisers.

If you believe that you have what it takes to help us realise our ambitions, we’d love to hear from you.  Please contact our recruitment partners at Richmond Associates to have a confidential discussion, or their website to download more information.

The closing date for applications is 10AM on THURSDAY, 9 DECEMBER 2021
