We're looking for a highly proactive individual with experience of working within a fundraising, marketing or other commercial environment to join us as a Community Fundraising Area Manager and to take the lead in driving change and boosting performance.

About Shelter
A home is a fundamental human need, as essential as education or healthcare. Yet millions of people across Britain struggle on a daily basis with homelessness, bad housing conditions, soaring rents, discrimination and the threat of eviction. So, we are striving for change, with individuals, in communities, across society, and leading the way to a safe home. We need individuals who are passionate about our cause to join us at this exciting time. This is your chance to play a part in the fundamental change we are striving to achieve.

At Shelter we are united by our purpose to defend the right to a safe home. Our enemy is the social injustice at the core of the escalating housing emergency. We believe that to win that fight, we must be representative of the people we are here to help and those who support our movement for change. In all our people decisions, we take pride in being inclusive, fair, equitable and transparent.

We have committed to combat racism both within and outside Shelter and welcome you on our journey to becoming a truly anti-racist organisation.

Part of our hugely successful Income Generation division, Shelter's Community Fundraising team is a new team and throughout 2020/21 we have grown to have 12 Regional Fundraisers in cities across England and Scotland, as well as a central team and three managers. Community Fundraising is a key part of Shelter's long-term fundraising strategy and investment is being made available to fund it. We have had a successful 2020/2021, an exciting Community Fundraising strategy and the team has grown. It's an exciting time to join us!

At Shelter we are committed to tackling systematic inequalities and currently we are looking to increase the diversity within our Fundraising team. We would particularly welcome applications from anyone with a BAME background or who considers themselves to have a disability.

About the role
In this new role you'll work with the team and Head of Community Fundraising to lead the delivery of the community fundraising strategy to develop relationships with members of communities so that we maximise their engagement and fundraising support for Shelter. Supporting, coaching and developing the team, you'll be acting as an ambassador of collaboration, building authentic internal and external relationships so that a supporter-centric approach is delivered through all our activities. In doing so, you'll need to keep on top of targets and budgets and to drive decisions with detailed analysis and data.

We are happy to talk about flexible working, personal growth, and to promote a workplace where you can be yourself and achieve success based only on your merit.

About you
In addition to your relevant background and your proactive approach to every aspect of your work, you'll need the ability to respond quickly to challenges or opportunities and to lead change through a mixture of lateral thinking, positivity and commitment to improve performance. You're particularly good at engaging people's interest, influencing their behaviour and building productive relationships with key customers and partners. You're also commercially sharp, with a good eye for business benefit and best practice.

Benefits
We offer a wide range of benefits, including 30 days of annual leave, enhanced family friendly policies, pension and interest free travel loans. Our employees also have access to a tenancy deposit loan, payroll giving, cycle to work scheme and an employee assistance programme.

Shelter Scotland helps over half a million people every year struggling with bad housing or homelessness through our advice, support and legal services. And we campaign to make sure that, one day, no one will have to turn to us for help.
