Fundraising Manager

Looking for a fundrising job that makes a real difference? Love building relationships and working with people?  Join our small, friendly team making a big impact!  A fatastically rewarding and demanding role.

Sussex MS Centre is a user-led organisation, set up in 1984 by people with Multiple Sclerosis to help one other manage the condition and to improve their quality of life both physically and mentally. In addition to supporting members with MS and other neurological conditions, where possible the Centre welcomes people with other long-term conditions such as cancer.

You will sustain and develop income through fundraising while helping to manage marketing and communications.

Over the years we have introduced a range of drug-free therapies and classes, as well as social and other activities which contribute to making the Centre the diverse and vibrant hub it is. During the pandemic we have continued to offer as many services as possible, both in person and online. With the lifting of lockdown in sight, we aim to re-open fully, develop new services and, revitalising our plans to secure a new building, move towards implementing a capital campaign.

With our part time Development Manager having recently retired, and at this exciting time in our evolution as we identify new needs and possibilities, we are taking this opportunity to create a new full-time post to focus on fundraising, marketing and communications.

The post of Fundraising Manager is a crucial link between the charity, local community, businesses, donors, trusts and grant bodies. The purpose of this role is to ensure that Sussex MS Centre has the financial resources to deliver on its vital strategic aims.

Working closely with the Centre Manager and Trustees, you will ensure the regular submission of bids, assist with our marketing and communications (including social media and online presence), and develop and manage fundraising to increase the charity’s profile and generate income.

The Centre has a current annual turnover in the region of £160K. As well as covering your own salary, you will be responsible for raising the monies required to sustain existing services and to develop new services where possible. You will therefore not only have a good knowledge of fundraising and marketing but possess considerable energy and the enthusiasm to inspire donors and funders to choose Sussex MS Centre as their preferred charity.

In short, we’re looking for a warm, outgoing, enthusiastic individual to work hard with our team and support our members requirements– someone with energy and experience who will help to shape our charity and its strategic aims as we emerge from the pandemic and to support the ever-growing number of people of all ages who find themselves living with MS in Sussex.

The client requests no contact from agencies or media sales.
