A good education is the key to success, but in the poorest parts of Uganda young people, particularly girls, miss out because even if they can find a good school, their families can’t afford to send them.

We’re a small UK based charity with an international Board of Trustees dedicated to improving the quality of education amongst young people in the deprived Teso region of Uganda. We have a particular interest in furthering opportunities for young girls and keeping them in education.

Currently, our main activities are a sponsorship programme, where we support young people through secondary education, and vocational training courses for women, held at our training centre.

We’re looking for an outgoing and proactive new Charity Manager who can lead the organisation, help it grow and manage its activities. We need someone with a strong track record in fundraising, with experience of operational management and working with NGO Boards.

Key early priorities will be:

  • Fundraising, to ensure we have the means to fulfil our ambitions in these challenging times;

  • Managing the governance and operations of the Charity, as we expand our activities and recast our mission;

  • Supporting and growing our sponsor network;

  • Helping the Board in developing future policy.

You’ll be based at home and will oversee the work of a small team in Uganda, with the opportunity to travel to Uganda occasionally, and develop networks of volunteers and supporters. You’ll be responsible for all aspects of operational management and will be the key post in the organisation, reporting directly to the Board.

The post is part-time, 20 hours per week (flexible working). £15,000 per annum.

Closing date: 5.00, 9th December 2021
