About the role

At the Canal & River Trust, we believe life’s better by water, and that the waterways we take care of have an important contribution to make to the health and wellbeing of local communities and economies. That’s why, as a charity, we do all we can to raise the funds that help us protect the nation’s canals and rivers. Part of that effort comes through the funds  from  the People’s Postcode Lottery – and that’s where you come in.

As our new People’s Postcode Lottery Partnership Manager, you’ll nurture relationships with both the People’s Postcode Lottery and our internal stakeholders. Delivering funding proposals, programmatic work, PR, and impact reporting, you’ll ensure we always make the most of our relationship, providing financial support to our work on the UK’s waterways. Plus, you’ll also ensure that our partnership meets with regulation too: you’ll have oversight of our society lottery licence, and you’ll make sure we always comply with the requirements of the Gambling Commission.

About you

This is a role with real financial and cultural impact on our efforts up and down the country, and the relationship we have with the People’s Postcode Lottery is critical. So, naturally, we need someone with depth of experience when it comes to maintaining partnerships like this one. Accomplished when it comes to corporate account management, you may have set up or managed a society lottery licence before, and you’ve got experience in developing partnerships that bring in sums of up to six or even seven figures for your charity. And, of course, you’re well-versed when it comes to charity law and fundraising best practice, making sure our work is absolutely beyond reproach.

But beyond your experience, what do we need? Well, first and foremost, you’re a professional in the truest sense. A clear, confident and persuasive communicator who upholds our values, you’ll work together with the People’s Postcode Lottery to achieve the best possible result for us and for the nation’s waterways. Plus, as an entrepreneurial strategist with an eye for detail, you know how to spot a commercial opportunity, and work to tight deadlines to make it happen. Above all though, you’ll be motivated, like we all are, to work proactively in support of our charity. You’ll be proud to be our spokesperson, and even prouder of your positive impact on UK canals and rivers, and on the lives of the people who live and work beside them.

About us

We’re the charity who look after and bring to life 2000 miles of canals and rivers. Our waterways contribute to the health and wellbeing of local communities and economies, creating attractive and connected places to live, work, volunteer and spend leisure time. These historic, natural and cultural assets form part of the strategic and local green-blue infrastructure network, linking urban and rural communities as well as habitats. Our waterways are on the doorstep of 8 million people and reach some of the most deprived communities within the UK. By caring for our waterways and promoting their use we believe we can improve the wellbeing of our nation. Come and be part of it.

To apply

We aim to represent the diverse communities we are part of and welcome applicants from across all sectors of the community. We strongly believe that a diverse workforce brings with it a diversity of ideas, thinking and ways of working which enhances what we do.  Many of our vacancies can be considered for people who wish to work flexibly, job share or part time.

This is a 12 month role, working 3 days per week.
