About us

The Churches Conservation Trust (CCT) is the national charity saving historic churches at risk. We have saved over 350 buildings which attract almost 2 million visitors a year. Our unique collection of English churches includes irreplaceable examples of architecture, archaeology and art from 1,000 years of history. With our help and with your support they are kept open and in use – living once again at the heart of their communities.

Our staff are one of our most important assets. We are committed to improving how we work together, encouraging development and providing opportunities for learning. Our staff are based across England, either at our central office in London or within the local communities where our churches are based.

We have a small, dedicated staff team, with a broad range of skills and expertise: from conservation and building experts to community, heritage and education specialists and support professionals.

The future of the CCT’s outstanding collection of historic churches is dependent on growing our independent income. The CCT has seen great success in recent years in applications to grant funders including Trust and Foundations, Landfill Communities Fund and the National Lottery Heritage Fund. The CCT’s 2019 to 2024 strategy focuses on delivering our Top 15 conservation projects and securing income from grant funders will be crucial.  We will also work with local groups to address smaller conservation projects.
