We are recruiting a fundraiser at the beginning of their career to join the Volcano team. This role includes building relationships with funders, researching and writing funding applications and helping to deliver the projects your fundraising work has enabled. The role will be organised around specific projects so that you will have clear fundraising and project goals. You will receive mentoring from an experienced professional fundraiser as part of the role and will have access to additional training opportunities.

Volcano is a production and touring company based in Swansea, South Wales. We create original work of many different kinds that is playful, inventive, risky, and surprising. We tour throughout Wales, the UK and internationally. Our home in Swansea is a huge disused supermarket where we create and perform our work and host and support performances, projects, events and activities by other artists, organisations, and community groups. Our youth performance wing comprises The Mighty New for children from age nine and Volcano Youth Company for teenagers and young adults. We also run a literacy project for children, called Storyopolis.

We are looking for a motivated, organised person who takes satisfaction in seeing ideas through from inception to delivery. You will be a good communicator with initiative and attention to detail. This is a varied role involving solo desk work, phone/Zoom and face-to-face conversation, planning and co-operating as part of a small team, and overseeing project activities which include participant groups or members of the public. Many of our projects are focused on supporting creativity in children and young people.

The ability to speak/write Welsh is an advantage. Volcano supports and encourages staff who wish to learn Welsh.

This job is part funded by the Third Sector Resilience Fund for Wales.
