Aims of the role

The Fundraising Project Manager will be a proactive and organised people-person who is motivated to play a critical role in Bible translation by achieving their goals.

You will develop and implement an individual giving strategy that gives new and existing supporters inspiring opportunities to give, and provides them with memorable moments to deliver a positive supporter experience.

Key tasks

Responsible for the individual giving strategy

  • Develop and implement an online and offline individual giving strategy, monitoring progress and reporting appropriately.
  • Be able to ask the right questions of our supporter database (Salesforce) in order to identify trends and spot opportunities, and work closely with the Fundraising Research Analyst to make strategic decisions based on our data.
  • Manage your expenditure budget in ways that steward the resources we’ve been given.

To achieve ambitious income goals by providing a fantastic supporter experience

  • Oversee Wycliffe’s fundraising appeals and initiatives such as the Christmas Gift Catalogue.
  • Launch and grow a regular giving programme.
  • Find new supporters (2021 target: 1,200, 20% growth) by innovating and testing to find the product(s) or route(s) that will be most fruitful for Wycliffe over the long-term.
  • Improve donor retention (grow first-time donor retention from 21% to 30%; grow overall individual retention from 66% to 70%) by working closely with the Supporter Care team to promote good stewardship that gives Wycliffe supporters memorable and joyful experiences that increase their loyalty to the cause of Bible translation.

To work with and through others in effective ways

  • Play a key role along with the Supporter Relations team leaders* to deliver income growth and an excellent supporter experience.
  • Work through others, both internally in the Supporter Relations team, and externally with our fundraising consultants and suppliers (design, mailing house) to deliver on your goals.
  • Lead and manage a small team, helping them to focus on the strategic objectives and facilitating their ongoing personal development.

To undertake other duties, projects and responsibilities

  • Be constantly learning and growing, keeping up with fundraising trends and helping to build a culture of personal development in the team so we can maximise the opportunities for growth.
  • Help build a values-led culture of fundraising across the organisation, engaging members of the wider Wycliffe team.
  • Oversee any future investment in community fundraising.
  • Comfortable participating and occasionally leading daily office prayer meetings
  • Carry out other duties as required.

Person specification

Skills and experience

Essential

  • A minimum of five years’ experience in a demanding role, with a strong track record in either fundraising or project management.
  • The ability to get things done, working to strict deadlines.
  • Strategically-minded and adaptable, able to understand data and trends and react accordingly.
  • Appetite for learning combined with a humble, teachable spirit
  • Willingness to work towards Institute of Fundraising qualifications.
  • Instinctively collaborative, able to work well with others towards a shared goal, in ways that value others and bring the best out of them.
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Excellent administrative skills, with attention to detail.
  • Skilled at building and managing relationships, including the ability to influence and persuade a wide range of individuals and groups.
  • Numerate and IT literate, proficient in the use of Microsoft Office or equivalent packages.
  • High degree of personal organisation and self-management, with the ability to prioritise, multitask and work to deadlines.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.

Desirable

  • Skilled writer, able to craft a fundraising message in written form that inspires the reader to act.
  • Experience with customer relationship management software such as Salesforce.
  • Experience in direct marketing or individual giving.

Working hours

This position is full time (37.5 hours per week) however part time will be considered for the right candidate' Flexible working arrangements are available and can be discussed if successful in your application.
